Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Aaron Hesla, OD has been serving the greater Calgary area as an optometrist for over 17 years. Dr. Hesla is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Calgary Society of Optometrists. He pursued a degree in Biology at the University of Lethbridge before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Hesla was fortunate to have completed an externship at one of Europe’s leading Eye Hospitals- St. Erik’s Ögonsjukhus in Stockholm, Sweden- working alongside renowned retinal and ocular disease experts. After graduating, he travelled to Tanzania, Africa together with an eye care mission team with the shared goal of bringing quality eye care to all. His experiences allowed him to gain valuable knowledge in managing diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. He is excited to work alongside the Eyedeology team to share his passion for comprehensive eye care. In addition to glaucoma management, his special interests also include pediatric vision care, myopia control, dry eye therapy, multifocal contact lenses, and sports vision therapy.
When Dr. Hesla is not working, you will most likely find him on the ice, coaching his two boys in minor hockey. He is a frequent attendee of coaching clinics and is a proud owner of a Coach Level 2 certificate. As a lifelong sports lover, he understands the vital role that vision plays in achieving peak athletic performance. Whether you’re a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, or a young aspiring sports star, he is here to provide personalized care and tailored vision solutions to help you excel in your chosen sport through the sports vision therapy program here at Eyedeology.
