Eye Exam By Dr Jessica

Before your eye exam, it’s important to follow any pre-optometrist procedures we may recommend, such as removing contact lenses a day prior to your visit, if applicable. This ensures that your eyes are in their most natural state for accurate testing. Make sure to arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

During your eye exam, our optometrists will conduct a series of tests to evaluate your vision and eye health. This includes assessing your visual acuity, checking for refractive errors, and examining the internal and external structures of your eyes. We use advanced equipment to ensure accurate and comprehensive results. Throughout the exam, our optometrist will explain each step and this would be a good time to ask our doctors any questions you may have.

To ensure a smooth and efficient visit, please bring the following items to your eye exam appointment:

  • Alberta Health Care Card and Vision Insurance Information: If applicable, bring your insurance card or details to streamline the billing process.
  • Current Eyeglasses, Sunglasses and Contact Lenses: Bring any corrective eyewear you currently use, including prescription sunglasses, so we can assess their effectiveness and make any necessary adjustments.

Dry eyes can be uncomfortable, but there are several treatments available. Over-the-counter artificial tears are often the first line of defense. For more persistent cases, our optometrists may recommend prescription eye drops, lifestyle changes, or procedures like punctal plugs that help retain tears on the eye surface. Identifying the underlying cause is key to effective treatment, which we can determine during your dry eye exams.

Absolutely! Our optometrists are skilled in fitting contact lenses for all types of vision needs. During your visit, we will assess your eye health and discuss your lifestyle and preferences to recommend the best contact lens options for you. We offer a wide range of lenses, including daily disposables, extended wear, multifocal, and lenses for astigmatism. We’ll also provide instructions on proper lens care and usage to ensure comfort and safety.
